Vortex is the most out-and-out sadistic of the Combaticons, and functions as their interrogator. A favourite tactic of his is to trap Autobots in the huge wind funnels he creates in helicopter mode until they tell him what he wants to know. He forms the left arm of Bruticus. Combines with fellow Combaticons to form Bruticus.

Vortex doesn't need you to tell him he's awesome--he already knows. In fact, he'd much rather you tell him your secrets. Vortex loves his job as a Decepticon Interrogator. After Primus seemingly left his children and planet Earth to the menace of Unicron, he proposed a new religion called Torturism, but unfortunately his fellow robots didn't see the appeal in a cross promotion of mass-torture and religious fervor. Megatron threatened him with bodily harm for suggesting the idea, but that did not go as planned.

Vortex was present for one of the later ass-kickings against Sector Seven, but was shot down almost immediately after the start of the operation, his rotor blades chewed through with a new metal-eating weapon the secret agency had devised. He did NOT become a confused and erratic mess for the rest of the battle with the loss of his flight abilities, NOR did he get badly wounded, he doesn't care what the other mechs say.
